This year's Fiber College was kicked-off with the second annual Knitmaine-ia fashion show.  The event, organized by the Women of St. Margaret's (Belfast) and Fiber College, showcased a fantastic variety of handknitted and crocheted garments and accessories. Knitmaine-ia  works to benefit New Hope for Women.

Fiber College 2011 was the best gathering we've ever enjoyed; full of color, texture and meaningful conversations.  The group is already talking about next year, so please watch for details at the New Year!

Keep weaving a vibrant world with your passion.

Fiber College, September 6-9, 2012, is a weekend to share fiber with friends old and new, walk the beach and maybe knit by the surf or perhaps learn a new fiber skill.  The college is held on the beautiful grounds of Searsport Shores Ocean Camping in mid coast Maine.

What is Fiber College?

It's all about doing...and it's more than classes:  it's community, sharing and evening events.
We hold the following statements to be true:  September is the most beautiful month on the coast of Maine.  Surrounded by the sea and bordered by gardens you can relax, revitalize and daydream~ you know that you need this.  Friendships are built around shared interests, long pauses and unexpected connections.

Fiber College is a completely volunteer-driven, learning festival devoted to introducing, maintaining and furthering traditional arts using all forms of fiber.  We invite talented artists to teach a wide range of fee-based classes in hopes that you will sample new vistas and share your passions.  In the evening there are gatherings for meals, exchanges and casual learning.

On September 6-9, 2012 you have the choice of taking classes, chosen now or at the gate, or simply purchasing an entrance pass ($8) and spending the day.  Either way you'll be in the midst of beauty, watching scheduled demonstrations, visiting the Gallery show, strolling the Shoppers Boulevard, interacting with fiber critters and wandering through the acres of organic gardens and miles of beach.  Said another way, we want you to dawdle at the the water's edge, soaking up the atmosphere, the passion and wonderful people who weave the sizzle into Fiber College.

The College is always held on the beautiful grounds of Searsport Shores Ocean Campground in mid-coast Maine the weekend after Labor Day.  Accomodations are available at the campground and in the surrounding hotels and B&B's of Searsport and Belfast. Come when you can.  Everybody is welcome.  Click the slide show to the right for a tour of years' past...
